Soft-Pak Advances AI-Driven Innovation to Help Haulers Gain Competitive Advantage Within the Connected Collections Ecosystem
Chattanooga, TN – (March 11, 2026) – For more than four decades, Soft-Pak®, part of Environmental Solutions, a segment of Terex®, has helped waste and recycling haulers operate smarter, serve customers better, and adapt to a constantly evolving industry. Today, that commitment continues through ongoing platform innovation and expanded integration with 3rd Eye® technology, deepening Soft-Pak’s role within the ES Connected Collections® ecosystem and helping haulers turn AI-driven technology into measurable operational improvement.
Through constantly expanding integration with 3rd Eye, Soft-Pak connects in-route data such as images, video, GPS location, and time-stamped service events directly to customer accounts and operational systems. This seamless flow of information improves service verification, reduces disputes, strengthens accountability, and gives teams across the organization greater confidence in what is happening in the field, all without adding manual steps for drivers.
The Tablet to Gateway integration significantly strengthens this connection by directly linking in-cab tablets to Soft-Pak through the vehicle’s 3rd Eye gateway. This enables service activity, route status, and exceptions to flow automatically from the truck to the back office without requiring manual driver input. Without requiring drivers to manually press an event button in the cab, residential route times can be reduced by up to 27 minutes per day, per truck. Drivers receive real-time route updates and turn-by-turn navigation while staying focused on the road, with complete service information passively documented in the background. For haulers, this results in improved service verification, fewer missed or disputed charges, and the ability to capture up to 20% more billable events that may have otherwise gone unrecorded.
“At ES, we take a great deal of pride in how we advance technology in ways that truly improve the lives of our customers,” said Pat Carroll. “There is plenty of conversation around AI, but leadership comes from applying intelligence where it actually matters, improving safety, efficiency, and profitability in daily operations. The Connected Collections ecosystem reflects how our teams work together to deliver industry-leading technology that makes a real difference for the people using it every day.”
As 3rd Eye expands its AI-powered capabilities, Soft-Pak continues to evolve alongside those advancements, ensuring new intelligence is delivered in a way that is integrated, intuitive, and immediately useful. Together, the platforms support positive service verification, contamination and exception management, operational insight, and compliance readiness within a single, connected workflow.
“Our customers rely on us not just for software, but for partnership,” said Brian Porter, President of Soft-Pak. “We hear it often from haulers who tell us they cannot imagine running their operation without Soft-Pak and the people behind it. That responsibility drives our team to keep listening, keep improving, and make sure every enhancement supports our customers’ success. By strengthening our role within the Connected Collections ecosystem and thoughtfully incorporating new technologies, we help customers stay competitive without adding complexity to their operations.”
As part of the Environmental Solutions Connected Collections ecosystem, Soft-Pak remains focused on helping waste and recycling operators move from reactive operations to more connected, informed day-to-day decision making, supported by proven software, integrated intelligence, and a team dedicated to customer success.
